How to build Claude Agent Skills that handle your most repetitive tasks
I'm already saving 5 hours weekly with the 2 Agent Skills I built
Hey builders,
Claude just released Agent SKILLS - think reusable expert prompts with full context that automatically load when you need them.
No more copying the same instructions and context into every conversation. No more switching between projects. Build once, use everywhere.
I immediately built two Skills that now handle tasks eating 5+ hours of my week.
You're here for the actionable stuff, so let's dive right into it.
Today we’ll cover:
→ What Claude Agent Skills actually are - and why they're different from Claude Projects or custom GPTs
→ Quick use case ideas - so you can start building your own today
→ The 2 Skills I built live - LinkedIn to X post converter + case study creator (with exact build process)
What Are Claude Skills?

Think of Skills as specialised training modules for Claude that automatically load when they're relevant to your work.
Here's the difference from what we've had before:
Custom GPTs and Projects:
→ Stuck in separate windows
→ Can't combine multiple contexts
→ Require manual switching between tools
→ Limited to that specific conversation
Claude Skills:
→ Automatically used in your conversation when relevant
→ Can be combined in one conversation
→ Portable across all Claude products
→ Work across web, API, and Claude Code
The technical structure is simple. A Skill is a folder containing:
SKILL.md file with instructions
Supporting resources (PDFs, markdown files, examples)
Context Claude needs to execute the task perfectly
When Claude detects your task matches a Skill's purpose, it automatically loads that entire context into your conversation.
Short overview from Anthropic:
The Problem Claude Skills Solve
The fundamental problem Claude Agent Skills Solve: Projects and Custom GPTs are isolated silos. They don't talk to each other. You can't combine them. You can't bring them into any conversation.
With Agent Skills? Everything changes.
Agent Skills are portable agents that can be brought into ANY conversation at ANY point with all their prompts and context automatically loaded.
→ Create the LinkedIn post using one Agent Skill
→ Stay in the same window
→ Say "turn this into an X thread"
→ The X conversion Agent Skill automatically loads with all your X examples, format guidelines, and proven patterns already in context
You can stack multiple Agent Skills in one conversation:
→ Create LinkedIn post (Agent Skill #1 loads)
→ Convert to X (Agent Skill #2 loads)
→ Generate accompanying image (Agent Skill #3 loads)
→ Crop that image for LinkedIn’s ideal image size 1200 x 627 (Agent Skill #4 loads)
All in one window. All with full context. All working together.
Agent Skills work across every Claude product - web app, API, Claude Code. Build once, use everywhere. Your expertise follows you.
Projects and Custom GPTs lock your knowledge in separate boxes. Agent Skills make your knowledge portable and combinable.
What Could You Build?
Skills can handle basically any repetitive task that needs consistent context. Here are some quick examples:
→ Brand voice refiner for all your content
→ Meeting transcripts into action items
→ Customer pain point extractor from feedback
→ Financial report auto-generator in your exact format
→ Code review following your team's standards
→ Sales proposals matching your template
→ Support ticket responder with approved language
→ Legal red flag scanner for contracts
→ Technical documentation generator
→ Email campaign optimiser
The use cases are endless. Now let me show you exactly how I built my two Skills.
The 2 Agent Skills I Built: Complete Walkthrough
Watch the full build here:
Skill #1: LinkedIn to X Post Converter
The Challenge:
I post on LinkedIn daily but X requires completely different formats, character limits, and engagement patterns. I was spending 2-3 hours weekly manually converting posts, and consistency was hit or miss.
The Build Process:
Now, like with anything you build in AI, the quality of the input is directly correlated with the output.
So, I used Manus 1.5 (their new computer use agent) to handle the research because this needed to be thorough.
I told Manus: "Scrape all my LinkedIn posts, analyse my content patterns, research top X creators in my space who create similar content to me, identify what post formats perform well, and create documentation for a Claude Skill."
Manus 1.5 autonomously:
→ Scraped and analysed all 204 of my LinkedIn posts
→ Calculated engagement patterns and peak performance
→ Researched 3 top X creators similar to me
→ Analysed their post formats and what performs best
→ Created complete documentation I needed for the Skill
What would have taken 5-6 hours manually, Manus did in 30 minutes.
Watch how to used Manus 1.5 Agent to do this here:
What Got Created:
SKILL.md - Instructions on analysing LinkedIn posts and selecting the best X format
content-analysis.pdf - Breakdown of my 204 posts with engagement data
x-format-examples.pdf - Before/after conversion examples
x-creator-analysis.pdf - Research on what works for top creators
I packaged everything as a .zip file using Claude Code, then uploaded via Settings → Capabilities → Skills.
Testing It:
I wrote a LinkedIn post about Claude Skills, then said "Convert this to X thread."
Claude automatically generated 4 different versions:
→ Micro format (single punchy tweet)
→ Standard thread (5 tweets)
→ Deep thread (12 tweets with detailed breakdown)
→ Complete educational thread
Perfect voice match. Maintained core message. Multiple options to choose from.
The Result: 2-3 hours saved weekly, every single week. Plus total consistency - no more hoping Claude gets my voice right.
Skill #2: Case Study Creator
The Challenge:
At Ghost Team, turning project notes and scattered information into polished case studies was taking 1-2 hours each. We needed consistent structure, highlighted metrics, and brand voice alignment.
The Build Process:
For this one, I asked Claude to help build the Skill itself.
My prompt: "I want to create a skill that creates case studies from messy inputs like voice notes, documentation, or meeting notes. Tell me what information you need."
Claude asked for:
→ Example case studies I like
→ Desired structure template
→ Brand voice and audience
→ How to handle results and metrics
→ Length specifications
I provided:
→ URL to a website with excellent case study examples
→ Instructions to add MORE focus on metrics (critical for us)
→ My LinkedIn post as a voice reference
→ Target: 800-1,200 words, markdown format
Claude then:
→ Analysed the reference case studies
→ Created a template (Challenge → Solution → Implementation → Results → Testimonial)
→ Generated the complete SKILL.md file ready for upload
I used Claude Code to package it as a .zip and uploaded it.
Testing It:
I gave Claude messy inputs:
→ A few slides about a client project
→ A delivery email with technical details
→ Random meeting notes
Prompt: "Turn this into a case study using the case study skill"
Claude automatically extracted key information, structured everything according to the template, and generated a complete case study.
First attempt was too long (2,000 words). I updated the Skill with stricter length constraints. Second attempt was perfect - clean structure, right length, metrics highlighted.
The Result: 1-2 hours saved per case study. We create 2-3 monthly, so 2-6 hours saved per month.
Getting Started
Start simple. Pick ONE task you do 3+ times per week.
Good first Skills:
→ Brand voice refiner
→ Meeting notes formatter
→ Email response drafter
→ Content repurposing
Build one, test it, refine it, then build the next. The Skills that save the most time are the ones you actually use repeatedly.
Skills are still early. Most people haven't discovered them yet. But the people who systematise their knowledge into Skills now will be significantly more productive than those still prompting from scratch in 6 months.
